Dr. Maria Bajwa received her medical doctor degree from Pakistan, her Associate degree in Health Information Technology from SUNY Broome Community College, New York, and a certification in online instructional designing from Online Learning Consortium/ Open SUNY. She obtained her Master’s in Medical and Healthcare Simulation from the prestigious Drexel University, College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She obtained a PhD in Health Professions Education from MGH Institute of Health Profession, Boston, an affiliate of Harvard University. Her area of research is professional development for the use of distance simulation which includes simulation modalities such as extended reality-based simulations (AR, MR, & VR), screen-simulation and telesimulation.

She is proficient in teaching and guiding healthcare educators, faculty and end-users for the use of the entire set of simulation modalities under the most advanced principles of cognitive science and adult learning. She is trained in simulation-based interprofessional education and instructional designing. She has presented at several conferences and has a combined healthcare and teaching experience of more than twenty years.

She is a member of Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSiH), Association of Simulation Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH), SUNY Interprofessional Education Consortium, and Simulation Educators of Eastern New York (SEENY). She is a member of the steering committee of SEENY, and assessment and evaluation committee for SUNY system, and the president of Awards Committee in Virtual Reality Group for innovation, research and service in virtual reality in SSiH.
